Legends from the North
July 22, 2010 1 CommentWe’ve already made the point that this year’s Insync Oracle User Group Conference is graced by several of the most prominent Oracle programming experts in the world. Joining the likes of Tom Kyte, Debra Lilley and Richard Foote this year are two more independent ACE Directors whose names will ring loud bells for most regulars on the Oracle conference scene: Steven Feuerstein and Mogens Norgaard.
Chicago-based Steven Feuerstein is a prolific author and developer – one of the world’s leading minds in PL/SQL programming – and an ACE Director. A list of Steven’s many PL/SQL books can be found at his Wikipedia entry and you can get inside his brain via his blog You can also subscribe to his monthly PL/SQL newsletter at www.stevenfeuerstein.com. Steven has been a software developer for Quest software since 2001.
This year Steven has been working on the PL/SQL challenge, which according to his blog attracted no fewer than 1,000 entrants. You can catch Steven talking about:
- The PL/SQL quiz on Day One in rm 101 at 11.05
- “Golden Rules for Developers” on Day Two in rm 101 at 12.00pm
- PL/SQL for Oracle DBAs on Day two in rm 106 at 3.45pm.
For anyone that has seen Denmark’s Mogens Norgaard present, they certainly won’t have forgotten it. Again, Mogens is one of the most prominent SQL experts in his field, an ACE Director and a co-founder of the Oak Table which we’ve mentioned before.
Morgens is presenting twice at the conference:
- On “Oracle Business accelerators – fact or fiction” with Debra Lilley at 2.45pm in rm 104 on Day 2.
- On Real Application Testing in rm 101 at 3.45pm also on Day 2.
Despite his Oracle-world-renown inspirational and enlightening presentation style; the charismatic CEO of Miracle (which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year) – is perhaps best known for his association with the “Oracle Nose job”. He of course introduced his legendary colleague Morten Egan before his famous installation of Oracle Database in only 30 minutes using only his nose; but in case you’ve not seen it – here is the 53,000+ viewed “Unconventional Oracle Installation”:
