The Flying ACEs

Debra Lilley is not the only ACE flying in for Insync 10 this year, there’s actually quite a squadron of them and like their World War I namesakes, they are just as prolific at shooting down problems.

Oracle ACEs and Oracle ACE Directors are known for their strong credentials as Oracle community enthusiasts and advocates, with candidates nominated by anyone in the Oracle Technology and Applications communities.”  Of those attending this year’s Insync, its worth singling out Richard Foote, Connor Macdonald and Penny Cookson in particular.

Richard Foote:
Canberra-based and with 22 years of IT expertise under his belt, when he’s not blogging about David Bowie, Richard is a prolific blogger about Indexing within the Oracle Database and a regular international presenter – presentations that are both entertaining and informative.  This year his presentation about “Indexing New features in Oracle 11g Release 1 and 2” is a must for all DBAs attending the conference and can be heard in rm 106 at 10am on Day 2.

Here’s Richard talking to fellow ACE Alex Gorbachev at last year’s Openworld:

Connor McDonald
This write up  of Connor’s presenting skills by fellow Perth-based Oracle ACE Chris Muir tells you all you need to know about his credentials.  Like Richard, Connor is a member of The Oaktable , “a network for the Oracle scientist, who believes in better ways of administering and developing Oracle based systems.”  He is also a prolific author on various DBA and PL/SQL topics.  Connor is presenting on:
-     “11g Features for Developers” at 9.55am on the first morning in rm 108
-    “Partitioning” later that same day at 3.30pm in rm 106

Penny Cookson:
A former Oracle employee and founder/general manager of SAGE Consulting in Perth; Penny is an honorary life member of AUSOUG and previous President and Chair, as well as being an Oracle ACE and awarded “2004 Educator of the Year” by Oracle Magazine.  Penny’s presentations are routinely awarded “best paper” at most conferences she attends (for more on this read Chris Muir’s tribute ) and joins Richard and Connor in a triumvirate of home-grown Oracle expertise not to be missed.  Penny is presenting twice at Insync this year:
-    “Meet the CBO in Version 11g – 10.00am in rm 105 on Day 2
-    “A path to the future for dinosaur nerds: JDeveloper ADF – A mind map for forms developers” – 1.45pm in rm 101 on Day 2

If you’re locked in a perilous dogfight with your database code, you’ll want these guys on your side!
